David W. Markel, 38, of North Ridgeville, died Saturday evening, June 29, 1996, at St. John West Shore Hospital after a two-year illness.

Born in Appleton City, Mo., he was a graduate of Berea High School and lived in North Ridgeville for the past 10 1/2 years.

Mr. Markel was employed by Suncare Dealerships as a parts clerk. He was a member of the North Ridgeville Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir and was a frequent soloist. He enjoyed spending time with his children and working with area youth. He also was an avid sports fan.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Jo (nee Madsen); a daughter, Dusty; sons Tim and Jody, all at home; his parents, Rev. William and Jean Markel of Berea; a sister, Sharon Carpenter of North Ridgeville; and a brother, Jonathan of Raleigh, N.C.
